Annemarie Martz Endowed Scholarship
Annemarie Martz Endowed Scholarship
In 1995, Annemarie Martz graduated from Troy High School with highest honors. Her dream was to become a doctor, but instead she found education to be her calling. She graduated from Oakland University with a bachelor’s degree in education, then taught 3rd and 4th grade in the Pontiac School District while simultaneously achieving a master’s degree in reading at Oakland University. Annemarie taught academics to her students but she learned compassion and understanding from them. During her teaching experience, she decided she would go back to her original dream - to be in the medical profession. She attended the University of Detroit-Mercy accelerated nursing program. Unfortunately, because of her illness, she was not able to graduate from the program and was only six weeks short of completion. Fighting through her illness Annemarie never gave up her dreams, and she continued to inspire those she met. May the receipt of her scholarship experience the same determination.
The scholarship is available to graduating seniors of Troy High School who are pursuing an education degree and attending Oakland University. Qualifying individuals should contact their guidance counselor to learn about the application process.
